Hi, I’m Sandra, founder and designer behind Shadowfern Creative. For more than a decade, I’ve worked across a wide range of industries, building everything from logos and brand identities to websites, social media content, as well as print and digital media campaigns. No matter the format, my goal is design that’s both striking and purposeful.
The Next Chapter
Shadowfern Creative is the next chapter in my design journey. After years in corporate design, I created this studio to bring greater freedom and focus to bold ideas and distinct personalities, helping clients craft identities that truly stand out. It’s where strategy meets story, and where visuals are designed to leave a lasting impression.
Inspired by Contrasts
Beyond design, my perspective is shaped by both my global roots and my love of nature. Originally from Germany and now based near Michigan’s shorelines, I’m inspired by contrasts: the precision of European design and the wild beauty of nature close to home. Whether rock-hunting by the water or wandering city streets abroad, I find inspiration in those intersections—quiet and vibrant, light and shadow, detail and simplicity. Those same contrasts shape how I design.
The Shadowfern Spirit
Alongside nature and travel, I’ve always been drawn to the darker, more mysterious side of things: the beauty of twilight, the depth of shadow, and the stories that linger just beneath the surface. That fascination gave Shadowfern Creative its name and spirit, a reflection of design with depth, contrast, and personality.
Creativity Beyond the Desk
Creativity doesn’t stop at my desk; it runs through my everyday life. You’ll often find me stitching intricate designs, experimenting with beadwork, or crafting with stones I’ve collected along the shoreline. I share this creative space with my husband and our two cats, constant companions, occasional distractions, and a reminder that inspiration often lives in the little details. Those quiet moments of making keep my hands active, my ideas flowing, and my perspective grounded.
